A city where you can do a lot of good sight-seeing like the Cathedral, shopping and relaxing in the parks and botanical garden. Lot's of good restaurants. The traffic is hectic and you need to be very alert when driving around in the city.
Lot's of parkings availble, easy to find and reach. Not too expensive. Please be aware that on Sunday shops are closed!

Based ideally next to the train station and opposite the cathedral. Only minutes away from the river and between the old town and new.
Some noise in the evening. But expected given the location.
Transportation options were great and in multi language settings.
A good choice of restaurants for all budgets.

I visited Cologne many times and I love it!
I visited Cologne many times and I love it! This time we parked the car at the Köln Arcaden, a big shopping mall in Köln-Deutz on the other side of the Rhine. You can buy a 24 hour ticket there for just €4! But remember to buy this within one hour after driving in. And try to leave a bit earlier to be sure not to pay extra. This happened to me, I had to pay an extra €10, I consider this still cheap for 24 hours parking in a big city. U Bahn and S Bahn station is at walking distance from the mall and you are in the centre in a few stops. The mall itself is fine too by the way.

Cologne was the first place in Germany I had visited 30 years ago. I fell in love with the city then and I still feel the same about it now. I was here this time for a trade fair and it was a great trip with new connections made. It has everything you need. Excellent city.

A cool city that you should definitely visit.
A cool city that you should definitely visit. But be careful when booking hotels, do your research carefully. The same one and I ended up with what I believe are scammers. We traveled in April 2024, and found an inexpensive hotel Downtown Ehrenfeld on booking.
1 night in Cologne
booked a room. check-in after 16.00 - approx. I received a message from the booking office that bed linen is not included in the price, but you can pay an additional 10 euros per set and get.... well, okay, on the road, we won’t change anything, we’ll take it extra....
We arrived at 17.00 and discovered there was no bedding. At the reception we said we need bedding, we are ready to pay extra, they suggested we call Mr. Otto. They gave me a phone number. Ok, let's hurry to see the city, then we'll call you when we get back. We returned at 22.00 - tomorrow we will continue on. We call Mr. Otto - and the answer is: a room without linen, it’s your problem that you don’t have bed linen with you, I can’t help you, but you’ll be indignant and call the police. - this is the result of the conversation... they spat, went to the room, put a jacket under their head, and without undressing went to bed early in the morning on the road. We just started to fall asleep, we hear in the next room they come in and, finding themselves in the same situation, try to resolve the issue with the bed linen and, having received the same thing in response, people did not want to put up with it, turned around, spat on the lost money and left. In the morning we left with an impression of the contrasting city of Cologne - I did not expect that in 2024, in Germany, you could run into such deception of customers. Conclusion - don’t relax, otherwise.....

Loved Cologne, amazing place lots to enjoy and public transport made for a very reasonable way to visit the Cathedral, Old Town and Botanic Gardens. Walked back to city along the side of the Rhine - a very memorable day.
The hotel provided a spacious room with a comfy bed. A good breakfast was included with plenty of continental choices to start the day. The hotel is in a good location with shops and ammentities close by then a main line station only 5 minutes walk away or a regional line station just a few minutes away, both offering easy and accessible routes into Cologne city centre. Could be an alternative option for those looking for a base while exploring Cologne and further.
Friendly staff and a nice room.
Two main plus are the intercontinental breakfast and free parking on site which is something not easy to find in Cologne city centre.
Location is also in the middle of a golf club, with a lot of green around.
A car is highly recommended as it is approximately 15-20minutes driving to reach Cologne center. Uber/ taxi is also an option available but depending on the length of your stay a car might the best option.
It's a great hotel in very nice of area. I didn't know this part of Cologne before (Ehrenfeld / University Area) and I was pleasantly surprised. Way cosier than the city center, with fantastic restaurants, bar & boutiques in walking distance. The hotel was easy to reach from the station and the staff is friendly and professional. Bonus point for the cleanliness: the room was impeccably clean. The rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable.
The rooms are so small you can just about move in the room. They switch off Aircon in the entire hotel in winter to save energy and only keep heating on. It was 15 degrees in cologne when were there and they said this is winter in Germany. When asked can we change the hotel as we are feeling hot in the room. They said it is upfront payment and they will not give us refund. Never stay there again.
I have been traveling around Europe for the last 4-5years. Leonardo royal is definitely on the top 5 hotels I have stayed on. Very clean, spacious and comfortable, ultra modern with a great lobby and the friendliest of staffs. The complimentary Airport transfer to Cologne Bonn Airport is highly appreciated.
From now on I will be looking for Leonardo Royal Hotel chains everywhere I go.
The hotel is situated in the very centre of Cologne, from where you can reach all other parts of town. The room was very nice, spacious, clean, had a modern bathroom & great terrace. The staff is very responsive & friendly. You really have all you want for a relaxed stay in a smaller boutique hotel.
The location was fantastic for the Old Town area of Cologne! The price also made it very convenient. The hotel does have an elevator also, and the rooms had a great view of the cathedral spires. The hotel is also conveniently located to the Cologne Main Train Station. Maybe a 5 minute walk at most.
The staff, from the housekeeper to the manager. They're the best. Lovely interior, the hotel looks and smells fresh.
the breakfast was not rich in choice, but it was tasty and of good quality. I liked it.
It had a good location. Nearly 15 m walk from the Cologne cathedral amd train station.
I have especially liked lobby-lounge area. It is on the top floor, cosy, with comfortable furniture and good view. Hotel is few steps from airport and train station (15 min to Cologne center). I had very late inbound and early outbound flights, therefore location of hotel was perfect.
Close to the airport. If You are arriving to Cologne late or You have an early flight, Moxy is best option. Hotel is connected to town center (4 stations) and KoelnMesse fair (3 stations) with S19 train with station across the hotel. You don't need a taxi. 24h front desk (on 5th floor).
The location is really great. In the heart of Cologne, this hotel give you access to great restaurants, pubs and is well connected with public transport. Easy to move around the city from here. Get the Koln Card to use the full benefits of public transport in Germany
this hotel is the best I have ever stayed in Germany. I have been to Germany a lot. that is the only time to have a hotel with a big room, & lots of facilities, the price was not as expensive as the rest of the hotels I used
It’s five minutes away from the Cologne Central Station. Pretty decent hotel, they provide toiletries and water and regularly cleans the bedroom. The receptionist was helpful enough to carry my luggage up to my bedroom.
Best location! We stayed at the hotel 2 nights for Christmas Markets in Cologne and it is very excellent location.
The public parking is just right at the hotel. Very conviennent. The hotel room is clean and comfy.
Great hotel almost in front of Cologne Cathedral and within walking distance to two Christmas Market and train station. Staff is very nice. Room was very clean and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.
