The Village Bunaken

Bunaken

The Village Bunaken features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Bunaken. The accommodation provides a private beach area, as well as a restaurant and a bar. The resort has family rooms. The best place you could stay at Bunaken. We have seen a lot of places in Indonesia and around Bunaken but nothing compares to the village. The food is awesome and they are very considerate about dietary demands. The staff was so genuinely nice and made you really feel at home. Everything is very well organized (tours, transfers, etc.). This is really the island life you want. At the house reef we saw a dozen turtles and other beautiful things. After that you could relax with a nice free snack and some good tea in the pool. The free kayaks are a plus too. If you are thinking about a stay in or around Bunaken this is really the place you should be, believe us. Ps non-divers can have a great time too.

K2 Lembeh Dive Resort

Bitung

K2 Lembeh Dive Resort features a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Bitung. Featuring room service, this property also provides guests with a barbecue. The air-conditioned rooms provide a mountain view and come with a desk and free WiFi. We had an excellent 7 night stay at K2 Lembeh. The owner and the staff are outstanding. Sharon, the owner, communicated in a timely manner, answering all questions before we arrived, and then helping with arrangements during our stay via WhatsApp. Irra, who is in charge of the house and restaurant staff, was efficient and conscientious and very kind. She took care of all the details and even arranged for me to accompany her on a shopping trip to a huge market in Bitung on a day I was not able to dive. It is one of my trip highlights. Man, who is in charge of overall operations, and the dive experience, could not have been any more helpful. From arranging the details of our transportation, to taking me, after hours, into Bitung to see a doctor for an ear infection (he made the appointment, guided me to it, and stayed with me to help me figure out what was needed), to directing our dives, he always went above and beyond. You can tell that he takes pride in the operation and is very conscientious about making each guest’s stay a good experience. Fiki, our dive guide, was one of the best I have had. He was excellent at finding all those cool Lembeh Strait critters, and I also always felt very safe diving with him as he was always aware of us in the water, and was encouraging and thoughtful to me, a still slightly uncomfortable diver. The food was delicious—lots of local dishes, lots of vegetables and fresh fish. It is served as a buffet in an open area with a stunning view down the hill and to the Strait. There are a lot of steep stairs up to the dining area, but we did not mind them. The guests shared a table for meals which I really liked, as we met so many interesting travelers. The cabins are spacious, with a deck and a fine view, AC that works well, and your own carboy of water, with both hot and cold-water options.

Thalassa Dive Resort Lembeh 3 stars

Airtembaga

Facing the beachfront, Thalassa Dive Resort Lembeh offers 3-star accommodation in Airtembaga and features an outdoor swimming pool, garden and terrace. Among the various facilities of this property are a bar, a private beach area and barbecue facilities. The accommodation provides a concierge service, a tour desk and currency exchange for guests. I booked my trip in a rush, hoping to make a once in a lifetime visit to Sulawesi. I hadn't done much research, so it wasn't until I arrived in Lembeh that I realised I was far away from the famous Bunaken and could only do muck diving in Lembeh. The muck diving was PHENOMANAL for anyone wanting to see tiny stuff. However meeting other guests who had the foresight of booking the Manado and Lembeh sister resorts, I felt a bit embarrassed and a whole load of FOMO for coming to Sulawesi and not seeing Bunaken. I spoke to the management at Lembeh and they went away with my thoughts and after a day came back to confirm they had secured me a room and transfer at the sister resort in Manado and i would be able to continue my diving in Bunaken - and yes it was worth it, the coral walls and the turtles made it all worthwhile. The staff were attentive and lovely at both resorts. The dive guides in Mando were very mature and excellent. The food was great and the atmosphere between guests was excellent. I had a fab time as a solo traveller at both Thalassa resorts.

Likupang

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Coral Eye Boutique Resort and Marine Outpost offers accommodation in Bangka Island. The resort has a terrace and a private beach area, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. a perfect resort, on a perfect island. great service, staff and rooms, amazing diving, lovely running trail to village behind, kindly welcoming locals and we left as friends, and there were tears!! Carolin was the most amazing person. I really appreciated how they upgraded us when I got the booking wrong, and booked one less night so kind and the villa is incredible. We also loved the visit to Tangkoko which my husband did twice. This is easy to organise, and the wildlife and the photos my husband took were incredible.

Bunaken Oasis Dive Resort and Spa 5 stars

Bunaken

Located in Manado, 16 km from Manado Harbor, Bunaken Oasis Dive Resort and Spa features an outdoor pool and spa centre. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar.

The area is popular for snorkelling and diving and the staff can arrange them with additional charges. Sam Ratulangi International Airport is 20 km from Bunaken Oasis Dive Resort and Spa, while Manado Mega Mall is 17 km from the property. The nearest airport is Sam Ratulangi Airport, 20 km from the property. An amazing stay, this is heaven on earth in Bunaken! The resort staff was superbly accommodating, making sure everything was done superbly and all our wishes were taken care of. Everyone is superbly kind, the resort is gorgeous, the diving is one of the best I have experienced... I am not doing this review justice in this short summary, because it really was so amazingly unreal. Don't think twice, just book and enjoy!

Thalassa Dive & Wellbeing Resort Manado 3 stars

Manado

Thalassa Dive & Wellbeing Resort boasts 1 outdoor pools in the shade of jungle gardens, a restaurant as well as a lounge & cafe. Scuba diving can be arranged on site, while free WiFi is accessible throughout the entire resort. My wife and I do a lot of traveling and I must say the Thalassa Dive Resort does it right. The food is plentiful and fresh, the grounds are well kept, the bungalows and villas are comfortable, and there is world class wall and muck diving minutes away. However, the real gem at Thalassa are the genuinely friendly staff. The manager Arjen personally took the time to find out our interests and provided with top notch concierge service arranging all of our activities during our stay, along with joining us for some meals and taking us on a tour of Manado. The rest of the staff made us feel like part of their family with endless smiles and lots of conversation. One of the young ladies even joined us on a dive on her day off work. We can’t wait until our next visit.

Siladen Resort & Spa 4 stars

Bunaken

Siladen Resort & Spa is an eco-friendly beachfront resort with an outdoor pool, a private beach area and a restaurant overlooking the ocean. Water sports facilities are provided on site and WiFi is accessible for free in public areas. This resort has my 5 star + rating at absolutely every aspect: housing, beds, aircon, garden, beach, dive shop and equipment, spa***, restaurant and food***, diving and snorkelling boats and service***, bar... Service personnel are abundant are all very friendly and helpful. The resort brings and train local people to a very professional level, all speak clear English! Any request is addressed with the lightning speed but at the same time service it is NOT at all overbearing. The chef can satisfy demanding customers from the megapolis and it is surprising to find this quality in such remote location, should I mention great produce supply. Dive boats are very comfortable, and capable of coming so close to the shore that you can step directly from the sand to the boat. Diving and snorkelling personnel taking care of you as parents care about the newborn baby. !!!!A hot aromatherapy towel after every dive!!! hot and cold drinks snacks fruits on the boat, dry shelves for your phones and cameras, individual baskets for equipment. Dive personnel take 100% care of your equipment! !!!After diving they wash and dry your equipment wetsuits etc.!!!! I have seen great resorts, liveaboards which are special at sum aspects but never seen service that is impacable at everything!!!! Location is great: only an hour from the airport!!! but such short distance make the weather conditions on the island much better then in Manado - we were at the off season time, Manado had thunderstorms all the time but at Siladen it was great. I was with two kids and felt completely safe in open water, my son got several introdives safely (walldiving!). There are so many turtles!!!!!!!!

Raja Laut Dive Resort Bunaken 2 stars

Bunaken

Blending nicely with the countryside, Raja Laut Dive Resort offers bungalows built with wood from coconut palms. Providing snorkeling, fun diving and PADI diving courses, the resort also has private garden, direct access to the sea and the beach, stunning coral reef just in front, a sea view restaurant and a tour desk. Stop reading the reviews and book this now. NOW! It so amazing. We stayed 8 nights. Right on the ocean, with a little beach, no mangrove trees to obstruct view or access to beautiful coral reef, great for snorkeling. Other places in the island don’t have this. I spotted snowflake eels, 8 types of clownfish, 3 types of anemones, coral colonies the size of cars, and so many pyramid butterflyfish and niger triggerfish just in the first thirty minutes. It’s amazing. All of the rooms have wonderful views. It was so so so relaxing to be there. I have never had such a good experience. The food was amazing and local. We did vegetarian and it was so tasty. They also had fresh fruit around at all times. We went with the divers on their charted boat and snorkeled for around 12$ a person for two separate spots a day. Super affordable. The boat team of three men were so professional, knowledgeable, and yet super funny and kind. I felt like we’re all friends by the end. There is a public boat from manado, which we took on our way out, and we booked a private boat on our way in through Raja Laut. Both were great. Brahm the manager was so kind and attentive. We did laundry there and it was done well. Jessie and her staff in the kitchen were so kind. Always enough food, served family style so we could get to know the other guests. It was so nice, but also acceptable to talk to your own party if you wanted to.
